Electronics

- Debate about the meeting planed in Debrecen in March 2009 between all people interested in the electronics of PARIS: is it too early for such a meeting.

- Some think that the electronics issue should be discussed at a later stage, once all specifications are decided.

- Some defend the idea that many pertinent tricks can be studied and learned on test-bench already now. Everybody agrees on this.

- Conclusion – Meeting in Debrecen between Poland-Bulgaria-Hungary, with some Rother interested people

Technical report

· physics cases :

- The question of performing simulations including realistic physics generators for each PARIS physics case has been discussed..

- This discussion leads to the conclusion that not mandatory at this stage. For determining the specifications of the device, the only input quantities are a range of velocity for the g-ray emitter, a cascade of low-energy g ‘s given by its multiplicity and a high-energy photon characterized by its energy. The outcome of the simulation does not depend on how these parameters have been prepared i.e. on the entrance-channel, and basic generators are therefore well-enough so far.

- Yet, one can think about performing realistic simulations (also including the possible dead layers) for the couple of key experiments to be discussed in the technical report.

· simulations :

- Arriving to a final conclusion on the most suited design within one year is very challenging:

It is agreed that better coordination of the work distribution within existing manpower    would be sufficient.

· key experiments :

- First experiment (Day1) most probably at S3 and with a gaseous beam?.

-The spokesperson of the experiment should ensure with the “Simulations” WG’s that realistic simulation is done for this experiment.

- In the perspective of the technical report (to be written soon), it is recommended that several key experiments are proposed to be run at the early stage of the development of PARIS.

· mechanical design :

- Some money will be available from the SP2PP/FP7 to be spent rather soon (2010) in UK

 - It was agreed that it is too early to decide on how/for what this money can be used.

· detector testing :

- IPHC Strasbourg is waiting for the detector delivery. It was suggested that the project leader will help finding the needed detector

- Measuring properties of the phoswich (energy and time resolution of the LaBr part of the phoswish) remains the most burning priority.

· PROVA by M.Rousseau :

- Goal : R&D of PARIS (600keuros budget for 2009-2012)

à Test new and original phoswich concept

à Build a prototype made of 3´3 detectors

- Steps of how to proceed already well-defined

- Half of the budget for equipment, electronics, …

Half of the budget for 6 year post-doctoral positions (3´2years)

- Simulation of transport, reflection, collection of light, …

· discussion :

- Important : O.Stézowski and O.Dorvaux, for the “Simulations” and “Detectors” WG, respectively, should write and send a protocol on how to proceed.

Conclusion

- Next collaboration meeting in Krakow ( with a date to be defined soon – probably middle of September 2009)
